Subject: Bad news for WHACKO coolies! W Australia sea level rising fast
W Australia sea level rising fast
By Phil Mercer
BBC News, Phnom Penh

New figures have revealed that sea levels along the coast of Western
Australia are rising at a rate double that of the world average.

Statistics from Australia's National Tidal Centre show levels have
increased by 8.6mm a year off the coast of the state capital Perth.

That compares to a global average of just over 3mm.

Scientists have said that man-made climate change has played a
significant role in the rise.

Climatologists have said that a combination of natural variability and
man-made pollution have caused sea levels to rise around the world.

Double trouble

For much of the past century there were average increases of 1.7mm per
year, while that rate doubled after 1993.

Some regions, however, have suffered more than others.

New figures show that the sea level rose off Perth in Western
Australia and in the Kimberley region to the north by more than 8mm.

Dr John Church, from Australia's government-funded science and
research body, the CSIRO, says these are worrying signs.

"Man's role is making a significant contribution to this global
average rise," he said.

"I think the fact that sea levels are rising is a major reason for
concern and it's a combination of the global average rise together
with the natural variability leading to larger regional rises over
certain periods and extreme events as in storm surges which will have
the most impact…and, of course, sea level rise will not stop in 2100,
it will continue for many centuries," he added.

About 80% of Australians live in coastal areas.

There are fears that vulnerable low-lying communities may have to be
abandoned in years to come because of flooding and erosion.

CSIRO scientists have said that warming temperatures, which cause
water to expand, have been a major trigger for sea-level rises in the
20th Century.

They have also blamed the melting of the world's icecaps and glaciers.

Bad news for warmie whacko data fudgers!

QUOTE: In Deniliquin and Bathurst, there has actually been a fall in
temperatures over the last 100 years; but in many other regional places
there was just no trend, up or down.

Weather observatories in Australia, dating back 100 years or more, show
cities getting hotter as they get bigger; but country towns have generally
not been warming up.

Some have actually been cooling down.

Most scientists recognise that temperature measurements in cities are
influenced by non-climate things such as air-conditioners.

The cities in Australia also show the same trend as cities in the northern
hemisphere with the rate of warming here being less 1°C per century.

So the countryside has not been warming up, whereas cities are getting
hotter.

Substantial increases in carbon dioxide levels have been observed over this
period, so if CO2 really was driving temperature upwards, we would expect a
general rise in temperature in the bush and an even bigger rise in cities
due to the combined effect of CO2 and non-climatic heating.

In many parts of the world, it's hard to separate these two effects, so we
are lucky here in Australia to have records from isolated country locations
that are "un-contaminated" by the big city "heat island" effect.

The Australian Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) provides historical weather data
on the internet (URL: www.bom.gov.au/climate/data/weather-data.shtml ).

The average of the peak temperatures for each month is available and this
has been plotted in the attached graphs.

Graphs for the mean daily peak temperatures in January are shown for Echuca,
Deniliquin and Bathurst - as examples of country sites.

The last graph is for Sydney and shows evidence of the "big city warming
effect".

In Deniliquin and Bathurst, there has actually been a fall in temperatures
over the last 100 years; but in many other regional places there was just no
trend, up or down.

E M Smith reports a similar pattern of "no warming" based on a large number
of world-wide locations used by the IPCC.

Watch out for a plague of (WT) ˛ during the coming weeks as we approach a
new international convention on economic suicide.

It is shorthand for Worse Than Was Thought.

Suddenly, it is urgent. We have only ten years to save the shellfish.

Strange how such things always become urgent just before one of these
international jollies.

No doubt infidels will come up with various quibbles, such as the dreaded
gas being less soluble in the supposedly warming waters or the negligible
proportion of it that is being produced by humans or the relatively
smallness of the  change in the partial pressure of said terror gas.

More to come, no doubt!

Australia are rising at a rate double that of the world average.

Right, so the water can rise in that one location, but we not seeing the
rise in ocean in other places?

That is a real magic trick! If the sea rising in ONE place, and not rising
in other places, then explain how can this be due to melting ice turning
into water?

So, melting of ice and this water going into the ocean is ONLY going to
manifest itself on the Australian coast, but not other places? So, the water
is intelligent, and decides only to rise in that one spot at twice the
average everywhere else?

Oh, boy..we really becoming trailer park boys if you can buy that load of
crap!

There might localized rise, but then it not global, and it not due to ice
melting! In fact, I fail to see how it could have anything to do with global
warming...

Super Turtle.

I'ts therefore virtually meaningless to measure sea levels.  Level

So, einstein,

why would you believe it has ANYthing to do with 'global warming'?
