P.S. I am looking forward to reading your "Death of Charles Bukowski"

Looks like you got a good four or five stories if not more, in just so
much as that. But those ten hours in Veracruz weren't enough to
provide your memory with pictures of anything other than the inside of
a men's can? C'mon amigo, you can do better than that. Show us some
postcards, the French ones if nothing else!

I like all of the Ender's books, but I remember being most touched by
"Ender's Shadow" because of the POV character. It is parallel to
Ender's Game (same series of events, shared characters), though, so
maybe better to read the original first since Ender's Shadow was
written such that it's okay that the end is known already, whereas

I know it's odd, but I haven't read "Ender's Game" yet, and that's
probably his best known book.
I enjoyed "Lost Boys", and I read "Treasure Box", but I don't remember
much about it. My son liked "Magic Street" a lot, so that's on my list
to read, too.
Card has great storytelling abilities, but what I like is his writing

I really enjoy Orson Scott Card. For me it's the way he combines
excellent characterization, socialogical observation, and great plots.
But strange, I've read everything by him except the Alvin Maker
series. Maybe I'll put that on my library wishlist.
There were two books by him that were filed in non-genre that I liked

I dunna think so.
I'm about 1/4 done--having a bit of trouble with my characters so I
keep setting it aside, discouraged. But still hoping to finish.
Hoping other people do too, cuz I likes me reading some stories!

This has been a month of tight work deadlines, and that won't end until
mid-December. I had good intentions of writing a challenge story, but
I'm not sure I'll be able to do so.

Veracruz was just a ten hour shore leave on a Carnival Cruise...I went
solo off the tourist routes for some genuine alegria de
Mexico...Hurricane Ivan, I believe it was, stirred all about and we
had to depart early and make a run for Galveston. I really considered
not returning to the ship and taking off into the interior. I was solo
