They're trolls. If you click on "More Options" at the upper right of the message, and see more newsgroups listed than just alt.fan.barry-manilow, that's known as cross-posting. It's a troll thing.

They're trolls. Please don't feed them as they will multiply. Ignore them and they will go away. Remember this is not a private group and anyone....ANYONE can post here.

Absolutely, just thought it was weird that they're trying to trash B in some sentences, yet talking weird shite in the next.

She's not familiar with trolls. Now she is. Cut her some slack.

Fair enough, although I wouldn't know what a troll was if one jumped me in a dark alley. It's just seems the sensible thing to do to not give them an audience. Can one of you please explain what a troll is ( being serious here) Thanks Gill
In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts controversial, inflammatory, irrelevant, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room or blog, with the primary intent of provoking other users into an emotional response or of otherwise disrupting normal on- topic discussion.

One more thing. Trolls will show up on any public, unmoderated forum. This newsgroup is a USENET newsgroup, not a "site" or a private group. It has survived unbelievable troll attacks in the past. One attack was by automated programs that flooded the group with thousands of posts filled with gibberish over some weeks. It was impossible to find legitimate posts in the mess unless your news server filtered them out, which mine did, but Google Groups did not. But we're still here. Sometimes you just have to wait them out. They get bored easily.

Cool, there is even a definition for a troll.. I am familiar with the term, but it just seemed like these nut cases took a wrong turn on the information highway and ended up here by error.

I remember that. It seemed to go on for weeks and just when it seemed it would never end, suddenly they were gone.
