New to this years guide is a special symbol to mark pubs which provide
smoke free areas. After a quick look through the guide last night, I
noticed two such entries for Berkshire and four in the whole of Scotland.

Hopefully my article in the next issue of the ASH magazine about no smoking
areas in pubs will help to raise these numbers for the next Good Beer Guide.
There is also a book entitled "Eat, sleep and drink smoke free" which ASH
have produced and which I helped do some reseach for, for next years edition.
Maybe one day we'll need a symbol for pubs which cater for smokers, rather
than a symbol for pubs which cater for the non-smoking majority?
