2001 325 auto transmission

My neighbor's 325 (70,000 miles) auto transmission will not operate in reverse. His BMW dealer is offering to give him a new transmission at no cost, if he pays $1000 for labor to install. This seems unusual to me. Why would BMW do this? And if they are giving him the transmission, why don't they pay to install it also? Any experience with this?... more »

E36 window and lock acting up

The drivers remote locking and window motor both seem to be acting up on our 1997 323i 4 door saloon. The lock mostly doesn't unlock (remotely) and window is starting to scrap or grind. My partner described it as falling apart and nearly stopping, but sounds like some minor scratching inside to me, motor feels strong.... more »

2002 325i, all of a sudden wont start

I've had my 325i for 5 years now and the car has never had an issue starting. We recently bought a house and I started parking in the garage. I know we had a mice problem in the garage so I put out poison blocks and a mouse trap. I wake up the next day and I caught the mouse in the trap and ALL of the poison blocks I put out were gone... more »

2010 BMW 5-Series Officially Shows Us Its Headlights

We're going to see all of the 2010 BMW 5-Series Monday, but after showing off its balls BMW just revealed its headlights. Now all we need is the rump. More photos below. Previously, we thought the leaks and scans made it look like a mini 7-series. Not so sure anymore. The F10 is svelte and crisp and heavily de-Bangle-ized... so far. (Hat tip to Tim!)
