I cycle past this roundabout on my daily commute from Bingley down
onto Saltaire Road, and back in the opposite direction in the
evenings. Despite the rush hour traffic I rarely have problems
negotiating the area on my bicycle. It does require assertive cycling
and therefore confidence as a cyclist, however. I would support other

Who is the gropu that are looking at the options? Who is involved? I realise
Kevin is asking for general comments about safety ideas but is there a
revised plan that we can view or is it back at the drawing board stage?

Problem of cars parking in the designated cycle lanes especially near

I agree with all the points raised so far - especially Kevin's comment
about a direct route.

Any alternative to a direct route would not only be longer in terms of
distance - it would also be longer in terms of time and, more
significantly, in terms of effort. Bad cyclist can all too easily take

I live close to the roundabout and experience the chaos it causes
whether travelling by car, cycling or walking, on a daily basis. I
hoped that the new plans would improve safety, the current layout
causes quite long tailbacks and that in turn is probably linked to
safety for all users. Are the new plans dealing with the traffic jams?

My concern is really general, there has been improvements to bike safety
along the route over the years, but this only seems to be when there's
space which in my view is not where it's needed, cycle lanes on the main
stretches are all good and fine but if they disappear because the road
becomes thinner only increases the danger rather then reduce it and when

I thought the aim of the changes was to improve safety - I think pedestrians
have been mentioned but i imagine there is the odd car crash there as well.
have cyclists be mentioned specifically? Not sure. I believe that changes
aren't expected to reduce congestion - but I haven't followed the move to

I was thinking alternate routes around for cycles and I suppose there
are alternatives both down into hirst wood for 'lower shipley' (and
the
canal of course) and beyond, and through nab wood for upper
saltaire/manningham lane.

The problem for me with those is that the main road is the shortest

Councillor Kevin Warnes is part of the group looking at changes to
Saltaire roundabout. As a cyclist himself, he can put forward the
