Subject: caithness flying
Hi Guys

Im heading up to thurso for 5 days to get a bit of surfing in, but am
considering taking my wing to hopefully get some flying in too.

However iv tried to find some info on possible flying sites and hills
but cant seem to get any. Does anybody have any experience flying up
this area and could offer some guidance on where to go?

any advice greatly appreciated!

cheers
jonny

Hi Jonny,

I don't know about any flying sites up that way - it's probably a case
of just finding a hill and flying it, though it may fall within the
realm of the highland club... I'll send you the number for Gary
Williamson, who'll know the area a lot better, and may be able to put
you in touch with any local pilots.

You should be aware of the highlands restricted area which affects a
huge area away from the coasts - no flying after mid afternoon Monday to
Thursday (I forget the exact hours).

Have fun,
Jules
