Subject: shawdow
Has anyone used the shadow feature?
Is it as simple as going to the console clicking on the user and
shawdowing them?

I have staff in branches and some times the remote assistance in
windows does not work as well as it should. I was wondering if this
would be the answer or should I invest in something like "pcanywhere"?

The Shadow feature works FANTASTIC, if you are an admin. There is a
catch-22 though, and that is you can ONLY shadow the Propalms session.
So only the application the user is running, will you be able to see.
You will NOT be able to see their desktop, unless you publish Windows
Desktop to a server and that is what you are shadowing, but you will
never be able to shadow the client machine's desktop. Le tme know if
this answers your question.

Thanks,
Brandon

Most of my users access Propalms at a remote office (permanently
connected via VPN) so I find it easier to use Dameware Remote Control
to take control of their desktops. The great thing about Dameware is
that as long as you have admin rights on the workstation, it installs
the client automatically.

Used PCAnywhere a few years ago and remember struggling to get users
to put into host mode, don't know if its changed since.

You can pick up a single user license for $90.

Thanks for getting back. I was actually hoping that the shadow feature would
work to see the desktop. While I try to use windows remote assistance, it
does not work all the time. And seeing where we only push 2-3 apps via
Propalms and most of my problems are windows based, this only work with a
1/3 of the problems.

I will try it sometime.

One again, thanks guys.
