Interesting day.
Started with a vertical takeoff and finished with a vertical landing
in an Easterly wind!!
Wind was upto 65km/hr at the top of the Buachaile and minimum 45k in
the afternoon elsewhere, right down to the last few feet above ground
level. Evidence of wave and thermal giving interesting air at times!
Buachaile was a permenant 1000'/min escalator but you had to pull in a
wee bit of speed if you got near the compression up top or end up in
the "down" escalator, lots of fun but nice to know you ahve 30kph
speed to spare!!
Spent plenty time above base in light wave, base was about 3500 most
of the day.
It would have been a bold or not so old pilot that ventured into
Glencoe or Glen Etive today so settled for a triangle (Flat girlie one
unfortunatly as 400m short of the FAI minimum!!)
I'm not around this weekend myself so have fun and don't forget your
ballast!!
