Posting Guidelines - Google Maps Help Group

Welcome to the Google Maps Help Group. In the spirit of a helpful and welcoming place where users can come to ask and answer questions, we're setting a few guidelines that all members should follow. We appreciate your cooperation.

1. Search, search search, before you post:
Please take a little bit of time to search over the archives, the Maps Help Center, and this group's FAQ - link found in our welcome message - before you post your question. Your guides and super users have spent lots of time generating useful information in both places, especially regarding common questions on ranking, categories and reviews.

2. Be detailed:
The more information you provide off the bat, the more quickly we'll be able to troubleshoot your questions. Make sure to include the following details:

- A description of the exact problem
- Steps we can take to reproduce it, including a link to the search results
- What should be happening (instead of what is happening)
- Complete information to help us track down the issue. If you have a business listing issue, include the name, address and phone number of the listing in question. If you have a browser problem, include your browser version and the exact error message. Including a link to search results, the page that's causing an error, or to your listing will give you a faster response.

3. Avoid multi-posting:
Be considerate of each other and of those who want to help you. We can track and answer your questions better if you only post it once. Feel free to create two posts if you have two separate questions.
Disclaimer: If you don't receive a response in a week, feel free to post again and let us know that you've already read through all the help resources and still haven't found a solution.

4. Ask appropriate questions:
The Google guides have found it extremely difficult to answer one-off account-specific questions in the group. Suspect you have one of these? We encourage you to submit it through the "Contact Options" link at http://maps.google.com/support. We're happy to look over your reports here in the group, but won't be able to follow up with you individually.

5. Respect the group:
This group is designed to foster discussion, answer questions, and encourage debate over the products and services of Google Maps. However, if you engage in personal attacks, we ask you to please take your differences out of this forum. The Guides do their best to create a warm and friendly environment, and we'd prefer to turn to you to help us keep it that way rather than going to more drastic measures.
