Information for Business Owners - FAQ

This FAQ is designed to address the most common issues business owners experience with listings on Google Maps.

1. When will Google Maps add Maps of my country so that I can add my business there?
Even if we knew, we wouldn't be able to tell you. If you're not able to select your country from the drop-down in the Local Business Center, we likely don't offer the ability to add locations there. For a complete list of countries and the features that exist in those countries, please visit this excellent Help page:

http://maps.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=16634

2. How do I change the address, website, and other information associated with a business listing?
Even if you didn't provide this listing originally, you can still  update it.

Websites, phone numbers, addresses - this can all be changed by claiming your business in the Local Business Center. There's complete steps on how to add or edit,
or remove a listing, at http://maps.google.com/support.  Once you
change the information and verify it, it will be identified as "Provided by
the business owner."

Any listing that doesn't say "provided by the business owner" was
given to us by one of our many data providers, and you can correct it
as the business owner.

What can't be changed is: the related pages, reviews, rank in the search results. If you find a review or other piece of information on your listing that we've identified as coming from an outside sources, we recommend that you contact that source and ask them to remove or correct it. Any changes that they make should be reflected in Google Maps shortly.

3. How do I rank my business higher in the search results?
You can't. Because the Local Business Center is a free service, you can't pay money to obtain a higher ranking.

4. The correct address appears on Google Maps, but not in a regular Google [+] result?
Respond to one of the existing threads about this issue with the following information:
- Name of business
- URL of search result
- The incorrect address
- Why it's incorrect

If your question wasn't addressed here, it's more likely to be answered if you include this information with your post:
-
Link to search results, or the incorrect name, address and phone number of the business in question
- Description of this issue, and the steps leading up to this issue in as much detail as possible.
- The correct name, address and phone number that should be appearing
