Ok! I just discovered something useful!!!

I just received an OnCourse Bluetooth GPS Edition 2 (OEM version of
BT-359). I installed it to my Treo 700wx and it worked fine with all
(yes, several) GPS mapping programs / utilities, except GMfm (just
like everyone else is seeing).

I started playing around with it, changing settings and such, and
stumbled on this interesting bit; One of my mapping programs (TomTom)
has the ability to go directly to the Bluetooth controller to access
the OnCourse (BT-359). If I override this setting and force that one
program to use the virtual COM port that WM5 is creating (COM4, in my
case), then GMfm can connect and all is well. If I don't override and
let that program (TomTom) use the direct BT connection, even if that
program is not running, GMfm cannot connect. According to the
instructions that display with GMfm, it has to use the GPS Manager of
WM. (The fact that it hoses up GMfm even if TomTom is not running
suggests to me that there is a registry setting somewhere that
'remembers' that someone is bypassing the WM5 GPS Manager software.)

Check your other mapping software settings and make sure they are all
set to match the virtual settings of WM GPS. Try it and see.
