Google Chrome over Vista is not fully supported by Google Desktop.
This issue was discussed here:

We hope to enable full support soon. Search results will open normally
with a supported browser as the system default.

Hi vans,
It sounds as if your computer hasn't registered the .gg extension as
being associated with Google Desktop.
The most likely culprit is that you're not using a recent version of
Google Desktop. Just install from [link] for the
latest version, and you should be able to install any .gg gadget after

What is .gg file?

I tried downloading the gmail gadgets but my computer wont take it. It
redirected me to download a "file extension fix"? Hmm confused. It
said the program has .gg file. Can you please tell me how I can
download the gmail gadgets without having to go thru the fix with
windows? thanks

Hi Ben,

I have the same problem. I tried to uninstall and reinstall google
desktop search, even google chrome and firefox. But it still doesn't
function. When I click "Option", nothing happen too.

Now I am using Google Chrome. Please help!

when I look up files on my laptop I click the last link that says "see
all *** desktop results in a browser?" ... nothing happens, nothing
comes up, I use vista, and have Google chrome as my default... is
there a setting I missed or what the dealy????

Yes, the new Gmail gadget uses https to access Gmail.

Vista - Google desktop will not stop autohide

I turned on autohide on the sidebar to see if I would like it. Since
I have done that it will not stop hiding. I have to coax the little
guy out all of the time (even when it is turned back off). A reboot
did not change the situation. I would like to see more of the little
fella.

"view in Outlook" link changed to "view in Gmail"

I just noticed today that I no longer have a "view in Outlook" link
when I open a mail using Google Desktop search. My only option now is
"view in Gmail"

Apparently i need Google Desktop 5, done. So why won't it install the
gmail gadget i downloaded? I updated Google Desktop and i still get
this alert: "this gadget required at least version 5 of Google
