As several users asked before and did not get proper replies, I also
installed Google Desktop recently on three different computers where I
use Outlook Express 6. On all of these It will not index my mail, on
all three I have only one identity. But: I have shifted the mail
folder to a different location through the options menu to keep the

Sorry Brian, wild cards dont work. In fact it takes ? and * as part
of the search string. By the way, does it work in your system ?
Tried the strings in "". Even they dont throw up the results.

Due to recent protocol changes at my workplace, we no longer have
Administrator status on our Windows XP pc's. Some time ago, when I
still had Administrator status I installed Google Desktop. I used it
extensively, especially to search a large archive of emails in
Microsoft Outlook.

Now that I am no longer an Administrator, Google Desktop will no

OK, I worked it out by myself, I need to be the administrator before
changing the default browser. So this could influence google desktop.

When I type the phrase I'm looking for, Desktop search comes up with
the document - but lots of my Word Documents are very long. Is there
any way Google Desktop Search can be made to highlight the phrase, so
that I don't have to wade my way through all the pages?

 Hello,
I just got a new computer with XP. I moved my outlook 2002 email over
to this new computer and supposedly indexing is complete but it seems
to me that it is only indexing emails that I send not that I receive.
So this makes it really difficult to find emails. I never need to find
what I send to people as often as I need to find what I receive.

Try wildcards in the string (e.g. *, ?), so try entering a search for
anything with 67892318014392 in it by entering *67892318014392* which
SHOULD return anything either before of after the desired data. If
wildcards do NOT work, then there is something else wrong that needs
to be looked at by Google...
