BITING A MAN'S FINGER OFF—At the Durham Quarter Sessions, on Wednesday,
Christopher ANDERSON, respectably connected, surrendered to his bail and was
indicted for unlawfully wounding Wm. CHISMAN at Stockton. The prosecutor and
the prisoner quarrelled over a bet, and in the fight the prisoner bit the
prosecutor's finger off, and threw it away. The chairman described the act
as that of a cannibal, and sentenced the prisoner to six months' hard
labour.
