Subject: What should i expect as a first time spectator at Plymouth
I intend to join the crowds at the Plymouth Class 1 GP, however i have
never attended a class 1 event before and am not sure what to expect or
do to make the most of the weekend. Are there charged enclosures with
grandstands or do i simply find a spot on the sea front and if this is
the case how easy will it be to get a good vantage point and will i
need to be there at the crack of dawn?

Any tips would be graetly appreciated.

Pete.

You don't really need to be there early, and it's generally quite easy
to find a point on the sea front :)  I'll probably be there taking
photos, but as i'm on my own it's a lot easier for me to make my way to
the front!

As mentioned in the two replies above you don't need to pay anything in
order to see the race.  You can use the course map on class1uk.co.uk to
find a spot that is good for you.  Obviously the Hoe is popular with
both the Dry Pits and other attractions available.  Also it provides a
good view and you can also hear the commentry.  Mount Batten is also
popular but if you decide to go there on race day it's better to get
there early as only the end of Mount Batten pier offers good views.

As for the boats you can expect the roar of the Lamborghini V12's and
the American style big block sound of the Mercury V8's.

If you have time available before the practice sessions and / or the
race get down to the wet pits to see the boats being lifted into the
water.

Hope this helps!

(And i will not be diseapointed if we get another norwegian podium

I can't find the course map on the class 1 site!  Is it the same as
last year? as they were quite far out for a lot of it :( (i need a boat
to watch from!).

The course hasn't changed this year.  You can get the satellite
overview of the racecourse here: http://www.class1uk.co.uk/calendar.php
or the less acurate OS map here: http://www.class1uk.co.uk/largemap.php

Enjoy the race weekend!
