Both events are open to all.
The 9th at Coventry is very much focused on the issues related to
government getting involved with the virtual itself.
The 22nd / 23rd is much wider in scope and is looking at all public
policy implications, so this includes what it means for government
(which might be included explicitly on the innovation panel) but also

Sounds very interesting. Cannot attend the vGov event on the 9th but
would be interested to find out more about the Virtual Policy event on
the 22nd - is the key policy target just for civil servants? From what
I know, local councils are growing in presence on virtual worlds as
well (Manchester, Oldham and Kent) and may be interested in working

Thanks for your message Phil. This particular event is aimed at staff
and professionals. As you say it is critical to make involvement mean
something in the real world first and that's why to preserve the trust
we have in the "real world" we preferred to test it out with a range
of professionals from different services before considering reaching

All,
the Virtual Policy Network (tVPN) is running a couple of events in
July based around UK government. v-Gov (9th July) is a very applied
look at virtual space, Virtual Policy (22nd & 23rd July) is the first
major policy event on virtual worlds to be held in the UK (and is free
to UK Civil Servants! and there is a social at the Hospital in SoHo).

Hi Noel, this event sounds interesting and positive from the way you
describe it. I happen to live in Kent and wonder if ordinary citizens
and community groups will get to hear about it? Pardon my cynicism,
but with regard to community involvement (let alone empowerment) isn't
a more pressing need to make this actually mean something in the real

there's a constitution thread there, if people are interested and want to
see where we've got to.
I agree with James' point about barcamp/PSW being two different things
/ideas etc. - actually, it makes sense that it (launch agm) follows barcamp
so we can use that event to recruit!
