Subject: Mendeley - A tool for OS X to manage and share your research papers
Hi, seeing this group is about productivity tricks for OSX and also
because I intend to bring quite some older post up-to-date (e.g. "OS X
Bibliography tools" or "PDF tagging") I'd like to suggest you have a
look at Mendeley (http://www.mendeley.com, I'm a co-founder).

Mendeley is free academic software (for Mac, Windows and Linux) and a
Web 2.0 research network - both combined, they enable you to do the
following:

-    Manage & share your research papers
-    Synchronize your research papers online into your Mendeley web
account and access them from everywhere
-    Discover research trends, and connect to like-minded researchers

Our vision is to become a "Last.fm for Research" (http://
www.mendeley.com/blog/2008/07/an-excellent-euroscience-adventure-part...),
showing usage-based statistics and aggregated trends to help academics
better find relevant research papers and fellow researchers.

We're in public beta since August 2008, and we are funded by key
people from Last.fm, Skype, and academics at Cambridge and Johns
Hopkins University. Some universities (Dartmouth, Cornell, Cambridge)
are already recommending us, and we're doing our best to make Mendeley
even better.

I thought that this forum is a good place to spread the word and
receive feedback on what we are doing, and especially to see what you
guys from the OS X community think about it. If you like, you can
reply to me directly or visit our feedback forum (http://
feedback.mendeley.com). Please have a look and let us know if you find
Mendeley useful and how we can improve the software/website. And if
you like it, please spread the word!

Many Thanks,
Jan

Are you aware Websense blocks your site?

Reason: The Websense category "Illegal or Questionable" is filtered.

I'm not accusing you of this, but just letting you know.

John

Thanks for the tip - we didn't know! That's not nice of Websense...
Already started to look for the reason, but I think we'll have to send
them an e-mail for clarification.
